Understanding marine animals and the ocean is crucial for student stewards as it fosters environmental awareness and empathy, instilling a sense of responsibility to preserve these vital ecosystems. By gaining knowledge about marine life, students can actively contribute to conservation efforts, promoting sustainable practices and ensuring the well-being of our ocean for future generations. We’ve created an exciting art contest to help these stewards show off their artistic talents while learning about important conservation topics that will ultimately protect marine animals and our ocean.

STUDENT ART GALLERY

We suggest making sure your artwork focuses on conservation, demonstrates clarity and creativity, and has a strong focus on composition and color.

2024 ART CONTEST THEMES

Using only imagery, create an original artwork story that shares the problem and suggests a solution to one of these five Ocean Conservation topics:

Climate Change

Overfishing

Plastic Pollution

The Invasive Lionfish

Saving the Near Extinct Vaquita Porpoise

Click on the links to learn more about your topic and what Dolphin Quest and other Bermuda Conservation Organizations are doing to educate and implement local and global solutions.

CONTEST RULES AND GUIDELINES

The contest is offered to Bermuda resident students in the following age categories:
- 6-9
- 10-12
- 13-15
- 16 – 18
Only one entry per student will be accepted.
Artwork must be mailed or hand-delivered to:

Dolphin Quest Attn: Education Dept.
The Keep, National Museum of Bermuda
Royal Naval Dockyard, Sandys MA 01

Include:
- Student name and age
- Student school
- Name of educator
- Name of parent/guardian
- Contact email and phone for adult contact
Artwork must be 2 dimensional, no smaller than 11 x 17″ (27.9 cm x 43 cm), and created using the following medium: graphite, colored pencil, paints, crayons, or markers.

Please no:
- Pastels
- Photography
- 3D objects or collages
- Computer generated imagery
Submission deadline: March 3rd, 2024 (UN World Wildlife Day)

Top winner in each age category will each receive an opportunity for a class Educational Field Trip to Dolphin Quest.

Additional eligible prizes, depending on age category and placement, may include:
- Individual/ group dockside or in-water dolphin interaction
- 1 week fully sponsored placement in our Dolphin Quest Conservation summer Camp for individual
- A class swim and explore in the Dolphin Quest outer Ocean Sanctuary.
The top 3 submissions in each age category will also be submitted to the Delphinus International “12th Festival of the Oceans” art contest for a chance to win a trip to Cancun, Mexico for student and guardian.
