HAWAII MARINE SCHOLAR PROGRAM

The Hawaii Marine Scholar Program offers an immersive learning opportunity tailored for students between the ages of 14 and 18 who are interested in pursuing careers in the marine mammal or conservation fields. Scholars commit to at least two 4-hour shifts per month during the school year from October through May. Students will engage in diverse activities, from animal care and enrichment to educational outreach, gaining insights into marine mammal behavior, conservation practices, and the vital role of education in fostering a deeper connection with our oceanic world.

Understanding marine animals and the ocean is crucial for student stewards as it fosters environmental awareness and empathy, instilling a sense of responsibility to preserve these vital ecosystems. By gaining knowledge about marine life, students can actively contribute to conservation efforts, promoting sustainable practices and ensuring the well-being of our oceans for future generations. We’ve created an exciting art contest to help these stewards show off their artistic talents while learning about important conservation topics that will ultimately protect marine animals and our ocean.
