STUDENT STEWARDS ARE ESSENTIAL TO PROTECTING OUR OCEAN

Understanding marine animals and the ocean is crucial for student stewards as it fosters environmental awareness and empathy, instilling a sense of responsibility to preserve these vital ecosystems. By gaining knowledge about marine life, students can actively contribute to conservation efforts, promoting sustainable practices and ensuring the well-being of our ocean for future generations.

ART CONTEST

Dolphin Quest conducts an exciting art contest to help student stewards aged 6-18 share their artistic talents while learning about important conservation topics that will ultimately protect marine animals and our ocean. Each artwork must express the relationship and impact of humans on our ocean and must focus on at least one of the selected themes, showcasing both the problem and solutions. Artwork must be created using paints, crayons, colored pencils, markers, or graphite, and must be mailed or hand-delivered to Dolphin Quest Bermuda’s Education Department.

CONTEST RULES AND GUIDELINES

- Each artwork must express the relationship and impact of humans on our ocean and must focus on at least one of the selected themes.
- The artwork must showcase both the problem and solutions.
- The contest is offered to Bermuda resident students in the following age categories: 6-9, 10-12, 13-15, and 16-18.
- Only one entry per student will be accepted.
- Artwork must be 2-dimensional, and no smaller than 11”x17” (27.9cm x 43cm).
- Artwork must be created using paints, crayons, colored pencils, markers, or graphite.
- No pastels, photography, 3D objects, collages, or computer-generated imagery will be accepted.
- The purpose of this contest is marine conservation awareness, so please select ONE THEME as the focus of your artwork.
- Judging will be based on artwork composition, creativity, clarity of message, and criteria compliance.
- Artwork must be mailed or hand-delivered to Dolphin Quest Bermuda’s Education Department:
  - Dolphin Quest Attn: Education Dept.
  - The Keep, National Museum of Bermuda
  - Royal Naval Dockyard, Sandys MA 01
- The following information must be submitted with each artwork:
  - Student name and age
  - Student school
  - Name of educator
  - Name of parent/guardian
  - Contact email and phone for adult contact
- January 24th = Begin to accept artwork
- March 3rd = Artwork submission deadline (UN World Wildlife Day)
- Top winner in each category:
  - Opportunity for a class Educational Field Trip to Dolphin Quest
- Additional prizes (depending on age category and placement), may include:
  - Individual/group dockside or in-water dolphin interaction
  - 1-week fully sponsored placement in our Dolphin Quest Conservation summer camp for individual
  - Class swim and explore in the Dolphin Quest outer Ocean Sanctuary
- Top 3 submissions in each age category will also be submitted to the Delphinus International “Festival of the Oceans” art contest for a chance to win:
  - Trip to Cancun, Mexico for student and guardian
